How can I make a contribution to the College of Nursing?

Making a Gift to the College of Nursing

The following are some of the funds to which you may wish to contribute.

General

College of Nursing Annual Fund: This fund is for supporting the priority needs of the College including educational programs, student scholarships, teaching facilities and more. The fund helps the college continue the tradition of providing high-quality education as we prepare nursing students for the health care system of the future

Alumni Association Projects

Laura E. Rosnagle Scholarship Endowment Fund: This is a special project for our alumni association to honor one of our former deans. The scholarship will be awarded Reunion weekend to a full-time undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellent academic achievement, outstanding leadership, and service to the campus and/or the community.

College of Nursing Projects

Roderick & Barbara Barr Scholarship Fund: The Roderick & Barbara Barr Scholarship Fund at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing was established in 2001 to benefit full-time masters-level students in nurse practitioner programs. The family’s personal experiences prompted them to establish this scholarship. They were moved by the excellent care provided by a nurse practitioner for a close relative who suffered from a terminal illness. They wish to promote nurses in advanced practice by supporting the College of Nursing at UC. It is the family’s hope that they can ease the burden of excellent students by providing significant financial support in the form of partial or full tuition.

Clinical Education & Equipment Fund: This fund provides much needed, up-to-date equipment and supplies for the student skills laboratory. Through the skills lab, students learn and practice current techniques in a simulated clinical setting. This lab has become an essential aspect of ongoing clinical experience.

Dean's Discretionary Fund: This fund allows the Dean to allocate dollars for emergency purposes at her discretion. Contributions may be used for emergency student aid, special faculty requests or other unbudgeted items.

Jeanette R. Spero Lectureship: This project brings recognized scholars to the campus to lecture on matters relevant to the advancement of nursing science. Dr. Spero passed away in August 1999. This fund now serves as a tribute to her memory.

The Institute for Nursing Research: This project supports the research functions of the Institute. The mission of the Institute is to foster nursing research activities at the College of Nursing.

Stepien Student Professional Travel Fund: This fund is used to support student travel expenses to professional and educational meetings.

Dr. Beverly Malone Minority Scholarship Fund: This is a recently established fund by the Class of 1970 through their class gift donations. This fund is in honor of Dr. Beverly Malone '70 for her outstanding professional achievements. This will eventually be awarded to minority student at the College of Nursing.

Phoebe M. Kandel Historical Nursing Library Fund: This fund helps to maintain the historical library collection and provides funds for the acquisition books and artifacts.
