Clinical Sites
University of Cincinnati Hospital

University Hospital is the oldest hospital in Greater Cincinnati. Founded
in 1823, it leads the area in number of licensed beds - 662. As a Level
1 Trauma Center, University Hospital provides round-the-clock coverage
in every surgical specialty, including transplants. It houses fourteen
operating rooms, two cardiovascular operating rooms, two cystoscopy suites,
and two interventional MRI operating rooms. The majority of clinical time
is obtained here. A two-month obstetrical experience in the birthing center
for high-risk moms and babies provides the nurse anesthesia student with
excellent obstetrical anesthesia experience.
Children's
Hospital Medical Center

Children's Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) performs the most surgical procedures
of any children's hospital in the country. This 335-bed facility is the
only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center serving southwest Ohio, northern
Kentucky, and eastern Indiana. CHMC provides medical care for children
with the rarest and most complex pediatric diseases. A 2-month rotation
in pediatric anesthesia is available.
The
Christ Hospital

The Christ Hospital was founded in 1889. This 550-bed facility advertises
as "Cincinnati's Heart Hospital." It also features gynecological
operating rooms separate from the main operating room. Cardiothoracic
anesthesia experience is the area of concentration at the Christ Hospital.
This is a two-month rotation.

Bethesda North Hospital

Bethesda North hospital is the largest and busiest suburban hospital in
the Cincinnati area. This 314-bed hospital serves the northeastern suburbs
and beyond. A variety of cases including thoracic cases, vascular cases,
and some regional experience highlight this one-month rotation.

Mercy Fairfield Hospital

Built in 1978, Mercy Fairfield serves the northeastern suburbs of Cincinnati.
A variety of anesthetic cases highlight this one-month experience.
Good Samaritan Hospital

Good Samaritan is the largest private hospital in Greater Cincinnati with
673 licensed beds and more births per year than any other hospital in
the area. Founded in 1852, it's among the oldest hospital. Good Sam has
a Level I Trauma Center with specialists in all areas of bodily injury.
This rotation provides a variety of anesthetic experiences.
Veterans
Affairs Medical Center
3200 Vine Street 513/861-3100
Founded in 1954, this hospital serves United States military veterans
with a wide range of surgical services. The hospital houses six operating
rooms and two cystoscopy suites. This is a one-month rotation with opportunities
in many vascular and thoracic cases. Excellent opportunities for regional
experience are available here.
Holmes
Hospital
An outpatient surgery facility with four operating rooms located in close
proximity to University Hospital and serviced by the same anesthesia group.
Nurse anesthesia students enjoy an occasional day out of the main operating
room at University Hospital to obtain clinical experiences in ambulatory
plastics, orthopedics, gynecology, and ophthalmology cases. |
