Nurse Midwifery

The Nurse-Midwifery major prepares the graduate for advanced nursing practice as a Certified Nurse- Midwife (CNM) with a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN). Excellent clinical experiences are available in the greater Cincinnati and tri-state area including flourishing nurse-midwifery practices with Masters-prepared nurses as clinical faculty. Placements range from University Hospital’s level III facility to Community hospitals in Appalachia to Midwives’ Care, a free-standing birth center and home birth practice.

The program is fully accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives, Division of Accreditation (8403 Colesville Road, Suite 1550, Silver Springs, MD 20910-6374, phone 240/485-1800). Graduates are eligible to take the National Certification Examination of the ACNM. One year’s experience in maternal child nursing is preferred.
