1995 Dietary Guidelines for Americans
"The fourth edition of Nutrition and Your Health: Dietary Guidelines for Americans, a joint publication of the Departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture, is available in both electronic and print formats. The Dietary Guidelines provide easily understood, science-based information on how Americans can choose diets that promote good health." Other nutritional links are located on this site.

Administration on Aging
The Administration on Aging (AOA) is a nationwide network of states and area agencies and tribal organizations which plan, develop, and support comprehensive in-home and community services that create opportunities for active older persons and meet the needs of older persons at risk of losing their independence. Resource Directory, The Older Americans Act, Administration on Aging Fact Sheet, other fact sheets including Age Discrimination: A Pervasive and Damaging Influence, Elder Abuse Prevention, Housing Options for Older Americans, Information and Assistance Services for the Elderly, The Elderly Nutrition Program, Older Women: A Diverse and Growing Population, and others.

Diabetes.com
Diabetes.com is inspired by the American Diabetes Association and provides patient information; newly diagnosed, avoiding complications, healthy diet and exercise, support groups and discussion, risk factors and prevention, sexual intimacy, kids with diabetes and more. This is primarily a patient information and education site.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid
The Centers ofr Medicare and Medicaid, is the federal agency that administers the Medicare, Medicaid and Child Health Insurance Programs. In addition to providing health insurance, HCFA also regulates all laboratory testing (except research) in the US.

Healthy People 2000
Healthy People 2000
is the health agenda for the US and was established in the 1979 Surgeon Generals Report on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. This comprehensive agenda with 319 objectives organized into 22 priority areas fully identifies the lead agency and supportive resources responsible for completing the objectives.

Healthy People 2010
Healthy People 2010
will address emerging issues such as changing demographics, advances in preventive therapies, and new technologies. The Fact Sheet, Developers Guide, Stakeholders Report, Contact Information, and other information is available online.

The HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report
This report contains tabular and graphic information about US AIDS and HIV case reports, including data by state, metropolitan statistical area, mode of exposure to HIV, sex, race/ethnicity, age group, vital status, and case definition category. It is published semi-annually by the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention, National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The reports are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded for free.

ICD-9-CM
The International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification
(ICD-9-CM) is based on the official version of the World Health Organization's 9th Revision, International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9). ICD-9 is designed for the classification of morbidity and mortality information for statistical purposes, and for the indexing of hospital records by disease and operations, for data storage and retrieval. This is the only complete listing of the ICD-9-CM codes on the Internet at this time. The page is slow to load, but once is completely loaded, use the Find command under the Edit menu of your browser to search for a specific disease or code number.

Merck Manual
The 17th Edition of The Merck Manual of Diagnosis & Therapy, published in 1999, is available online in a searchable format.

Medscape
Medscape is a commercial site for professionals and consumers of health care. It features peer-reviewed full text articles, free MEDLINE, drug search, case studies, medical news, medical bookstore, patient information on many diseases, online journals, and more. Free news updates and links to featured articles can be sent directly to your e-mail. This site is free, but requires online registration to use most of it's features.

NetWellness
NetWellness an extensive health information and communication service developed by the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and other state-wide partners. Features include: Ask an Expert for general health information and concerns; Health Topics on diseases & conditions, and your health & wellness; selected "Hot Topics" written by professionals; and Topics in the News for the general public. Directories to AMA Physician Select, and CertifiedDoctor are available.

NOAH New York Online Access to Health
NOAH, supporting English and Spanish, is a comprehensive site providing health information for consumers and providers. Many health topics and resources are provided including the following: alternative medicine, aging and Alzheimer's, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease & stroke, neurological and neuromuscular diseases, mental health, pregnancy, STDs, and other health concerns.

NORD National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc.
National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. is the only organization of its kind - a unique federation of more than 140 not-for-profit voluntary health organizations serving people with rare disorders and disabilities. Thousands of affected individuals and their families, as well as support groups, health care and human service professionals, and advocates for people with rare disorders and disabilities, rely on NORD's assistance and leadership.

WebPath
WebPath, the Internet Pathology Laboratory for medical education includes over 1900 images along with text, mini-tutorials (breast cancer, diabetes, firearms, MI, osteoporosis, prenatal diagnosis, SLE, and others), laboratory exercises, (urinalysis tutorial, WBC morphology and cases, inflammation and infection, and others) that demonstrate gross and microscopic pathologic findings associated with human disease conditions. Basic mechanisms of disease are illustrated with descriptions. The pages may be slow to load, but the images are worth the wait.

Web of Addictions
The Web of Addictions is dedicated to providing accurate information about alcohol and other drug addictions. This is a useful resource for health professionals, teachers, students and others who needed factual information about abused drugs.
