Cancer Institute: Patients, Public & Mass Media
The National Cancer Institute's website for patients, the public,
and the mass media provides news and information regarding the Institute's
vast programs and resources. It provides updates on new research and
educational programs. It provides an opportunity for persons with cancer
to gain support from those who care. In addition, it presents the public
and mass media with information on cancer topics, as well as a variety
of resources.
American
Association for Cancer Research (AACR)
"The American Association for Cancer Research, a scientific society of over
13,000 laboratory and clinical cancer researchers, was founded in 1907 to facilitate
communication and dissemination of knowledge among scientists and others dedicated
to the cancer problem; to foster research in cancer and related biomedical sciences;
to encourage presentation and discussion of new and important observations in
the field; to foster public education, science education, and training; and to
advance the understanding of cancer etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
throughout the world". Access to journals, membership, annual meetings,
and giving opportunities are only a few of the links available through this site.
American
Cancer Society: Breast Cancer Network
The Breast Cancer Network is affiliated with the American Cancer
Society. This website provides the facts and figures of breast cancer.
It provides a resource for questions regarding breast cancer and programs
dedicated to helping those diagnosed with this illness. In addition,
there are stories of survivorship to help promote hope and alleviate
fears to those battling breast cancer.
Breast & Ovarian
Cancer
The Breast and Ovarian Cancer web site is affiliated with Staten
Island University Hospital, Radiation Oncology. It supplies current
information regarding advances in breast cancer, various treatment
options for individuals with breast or ovarian cancer, and maintains
cosmetic integrity for women with breast cancer.
Leukemia
- Lymphoma Society of America
"The Leukemia Society of America is the world's largest,
private organization concerned solely with finding cures for leukemia,
lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and to improve the quality
of life of patients and their families." Throughout this site,
information regarding leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma can be found.
In addition, options to link to educational materials/publications,
patient services, research, human resources, and how to help are made
available.

Treatment information, supportive care, and clinical trial information
are topics discussed at this site. Furthermore, materials containing
ethnic groups: SEER information, fact sheets, publications, CancerNet

This web site was designed for patients, the public, and
the mass media. Valuable information regarding new cancer research,
prevention, early detection, genetic testing, communication programs,
special events, and educational resources can all be found through
this site.

A University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center Resource
Oncolink: University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center homepage provides an opportunity
for patients, families, health care professionals, and the general public to
access cancer related information. Oncolink provides "comprehensive information
about specific types of cancer, updates on cancer treatments and news about
research advances".
