Principles of Dignity
We believe that regardless of age, illness, physical limitation or
cognitive impairment...
- People have the right as human beings
to be valued and treated with respect.
- People have the right to be spoken to and called by name, as opposed
to speaking to the adult children.
- People have the right to be viewed as productive members of society.
- People have the right to appropriate information in order to make
an informed decision.
- People have the right to take part in
programs and support services to enhance quality of life.
- People have the right to say "No" or
reject attempts of others to help.
- People have the right to be heard and to say what is on their minds,
over and over.
- People needing a little extra time to complete tasks and thoughts
should be given a little extra time.
- People have the right to their religious beliefs, cultural preferences
and wishes, regardless of whether or not we agree.
- People have the right to personal care assistance.
