"My interest in research on women with heart disease began with my mother who experienced angina during her 40's and was misdiagnosed with musculoskeletal problems. The following quote from my qualitative study on younger women with cardiovascular disease supports the importance of research focused on women with heart disease: "And Women basically realizing what's happening to them, you know, cause we don't usually get the same symptoms that men get. That's important."
