2008 Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice
Elaine Blomer, BSN, RN Elaine Blomer is a staff nurse at Hospice of Cincinnati and provides care on the inpatient unit at the Hospice of Cincinnati East. Elaine has been a nurse since graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. According to the individuals who nominated Elaine for this award, Elaine exemplifies the role of patient advocate, clinician, and educator. She has worked in the Mercy system for most of her 40 year career as a staff nurse, unit based educator and nurse manager. Elaine recently retired from the Mercy system and is now a staff nurse at Hospice of Cincinnati. Elaine has been instrumental in developing protocols for computer documentation and graciously became the mentor/clinical coach for the new documentation system. She is a mentor, colleague, and patient advocate who practices the essence of nursing with humor, patience, empathy and caring. |
